Monthly Activities: October 2021

We have lots of exciting events and Activities in the month of October!


The residents will be having an Oktoberfest lunch prepared on the barbeque followed by an afternoon of Oktoberfest music in the dining room.
Chicken dancing is encouraged!

Paul Schalm will be in on Thursday October 21st to serenade us on the piano with hymns and songs.

We will be having lots of Halloween fun including a Halloween birthday party with Derek Byrne, and a Halloween treat cart with goodies for all! Staff and residents will be dressing up in Halloween costumes, enjoying cake and beverages.

There will be church services available on Wednesdays and Fridays every week, and exercise classes 3 times a week. We will be taking advantage of warmer days to enjoy walks outside to enjoy the beauty of the Fall leaves.

On October 22nd we will be dressing in pink to raise awareness for breast cancer, and show our support. Pink ribbons and cupcakes will be for sale for donation.

Monthly Activities: September 2021

Happy September! We are excited to have a socially-distanced month of group Activities at Conestoga Lodge!

Sheryl Walsh will be in on September 16th to sing songs from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s! Get ready to tap your toes, and sway to the music!

Conestoga Lodge will be having a Hawaii themed day on September 28th. There will be a Hawaiian lunch followed by some music with Pat Murray on the guitar!

Bill Speer will be performing at the September Birthday Party on September 30th! We will be celebrating all of the residents and staff who were born in the month of September!

Have you ever been across the sea to Ireland? We will be arm-chair-travelling to Donegal in Ireland! We will be learning about the land, traditions, and facts about this fascinating destination at our monthly travelogue.

In the month of September we will be having our resident meeting! Residents can use this meeting to ask questions, and learn more about the Conestoga Lodge community! They can address any concerns, and make recommendations for new activities!

Every Monday afternoon the travelling tuck cart makes its way around the building! The tuck cart is stocked with essentials, toiletries, and treats for purchase!

Other socially distanced activities will include trivia, crafty corners, coffee hour, movies, exercises, zoom calls, giant crosswords and more!

The Kitchener Public Library will be offering a service to residents who are interested in renting books or movies! The residents will receive monthly bags of movies and books that are based on their interests!

Monthly Activities: August 2021

As Covid-19 restrictions begin to ease, Conestoga Lodge is able to resume musical entertainment and religious services! We are excited to announce that Garry Munn will be in for musical entertainment on Tuesday August 10th at 2pm! All residents who attend will be socially distanced, and are required to wear a mask during the performance. Sandy MacDonald will be in to perform on August 24th for a Hawaii themed party! Hula dancing is encouraged! Patrick Murray will be in to perform for the resident birthday party on August 19th! We will celebrate all of the resident and staff who are born in the month of August!

St. Joseph’s Catholic church will be returning for church services every Friday morning! There will be virtual church services from several denominations played in the Activity Room on Wednesday mornings.

Exercise classes will take place 3 times a week ! The residents will partake in gentle stretching and balance!

Trivia, giant crossword puzzles, crafts and travelogues will take place regularly throughout the month of August.

We are so excited to be able to resume the programs that we have missed so much during the pandemic!

May Activities

With the current Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no group activities at Conestoga Lodge this month. However, Conestoga Lodge will have regular drink and treat carts going around in the afternoons. We will still be providing one-on-one visits, exercises and church services on the computer. If you would like to have a Zoom or FaceTime with your loved one, please reach out to the activity office. Activities will continue to be aligned with the Covid-19 restrictions to keep our residents safe.

Monthly Activities- February

Due to Covid-19 restrictions we will not be having any group activities for the rest of February. We will be offering one-on-one visits, one-on-one exercises, Zoom calls and online church services. There will be a special drink and treat cart scheduled on Valentine’s Day, and a Chinese New Year lunch this month.

Weekly Activities: Monday March 23rd- Friday March 27th

Monday March 23rd- Make your way to the 3rd floor café for Muffin Monday at 9:30! At 10:45 get your body moving with an energizing exercise class. After lunch meet in the Café for movie Monday or color your cares away!

Tuesday March 24th- Every Tuesday morning at Conestoga Lodge we play a game of Giant Crosswords! Meet in the 3rd floor café to put your mind to the test. At 10:45 there will be a balance and flexibility exercise class! In the afternoon join us in the café for Instant Pot Baking to enjoy a sweet treat at 2:30!

Wednesday March 25th- Wednesdays are for Word Search Races! Join us in the 3rd floor café to race the morning away followed by a hymn sing in the chapel at 10:30. After lunch we will knit and chat followed by our resident forum meeting in the 3rd floor Café at 3:00.

Thursday March 26th- Every Thursday morning the travelling tuck cart comes around with goodies for sale. We sell everything from chocolate bars to bars of soap. Get in the groove with SMART exercises at 10:45. Bingo will take place in the 1st floor Activity Room at 3:00.

Friday March 27th- Come and solve the problems of the world at our weekly newspaper reading. We will bring the coffee and donuts! At 10:30 make your way to the chapel for a hymn sing. Wii golf will take place in the 1st floor lounge at 1:30 followed by exercises at 2:15!

Weekly Activities: Monday March 2nd- Friday March 6th

Monday March 2nd- Join us upstairs in the 3rd floor Café for Muffin Monday at 9:30! Make your way to the 1st floor activity room for an energizing exercise class at 10:45. After lunch there will be a movie playing in the third floor café at 1:00 followed by Carpet Darts at 2:00.

Tuesday March 3rd- Every Tuesday morning Conestoga Lodge plays a game of Giant Crosswords! Meet in the 3rd floor Café at 9:30 to play or enjoy a fresh cookie. At 10:45 make your way to the Activity Room for SMART exercises. Pat Murray will be in for musical entertainment at 2:00. Our friendly dog friends will be in for a visit at 5:45!

Wednesday March 4th- Wednesdays are for Word Search Races! Join us in the 3rd floor café to word search the morning away or head to the 1st floor Chapel at 10:30 for a church service with Calvin Presbyterian. At 1:30 join us in the Café for Sit-N-Knit at 1:30 followed by an Income Tax Seminar at 2:00. At 7:00 make your way to the 3rd floor café for Tea and Tales!

Thursday March 5th- Every Thursday the tuck cart comes around with goodies for sale. We sell everything from potato chips to shampoo! At 10:45 get your body moving with SMART exercises in the Activity Room. After lunch pamper yourself with a manicure at 1:30 in the Activity Office. We will be having our resident food meeting at 2:30. All are welcome! Bingo will take place at 3:00 in the Activity room.

Friday March 6th- Come and solve the problems of the world at our weekly newspaper reading! We will bring the coffee and donuts. At 10:30 head to the 1st floor chapel for a catholic church service. At 1:30 enjoy a game of euchre in the Café followed by exercises in the 1st Floor Activity Room. Have a wonderful weekend!

Weekly Activities: Monday February 24th- Friday February 28th

Monday February 24th- Join us in the 3rd floor Café for Muffin Monday at 9:30. At 10:45 make your way to an energizing exercise class in the 1st floor Activity room. After lunch their will be a movie in the 3rd floor café at 1:00 followed by a shopping trip to Stanley Park Mall at 1:30.

Tuesday February 25th- At 9:30 head to the 3rd floor Café for a Giant game of Crossword puzzles. There will be scones for all to enjoy. At 10:45 make your way to the Activity Room For SMART exercises. At 1:30 Hands on Exotics will be bringing in a variety of animal friends to visit with!

Wednesday February 26th- Wednesdays are for Word Search Races at Conestoga Lodge! Join us in the 3rd floor café to search the morning away. At 10:30 there will be a Church service in the 1st floor Chapel. We will be heading to Harvey’s for our monthly lunch bunch at 11:00. Don’t forget to sign up if you would like to  come along! At 2:00 we will be making cottage cheese in the 3rd floor café followed by Tea and Tales at 7:00.

Thursday February 27th- Every Thursday the travelling tuck cart makes its way from room to room! We sell everything from tissues to chocolate bars! At 10:45 get your body moving with SMART exercises in the Activity Room. The Kitchener Public Library will be in at 1:00 in the Café followed by Bluegrass Café at 2:30. Bingo will take place at 3:00 in the 1st floor Activity Room.

Friday February 28th- Come and solve the problems of the world at our weekly newspaper discussion. We will bring the coffee and donuts! At 10:30 head to the Chapel for a Catholic church Service. Get your golf swing ready for Wii Golf at 1:30 in the 1st floor lounge or head to SMART exercises at 2:15. Have a wonderful weekend!

Weekly Activities: Monday February 17th- Friday February 21st

Monday February 17th- Happy Family Day to all residents at Conestoga Lodge!

Tuesday February 18th- Join us in the 3rd floor café at 9:30 to enjoy a freshly baked cookie. We wills start the day off with a game of Giant crosswords in the 3rd floor café. At 10:45 get energized with SMART exercise class in the 1st floor activity room. Grab your boarding pass because we will be headed to the heart of Texas for our travelogue this month. Meet in the 3rd floor café at 1:30 to arm-chair-travel with us! We will be making some traditional Texas goodies at this event.

Wednesday February 19th- Wednesdays are for Word Search Races! Come on up to the 3rd floor café to search the morning away or head to a church service at 10:30 in the 1st Floor Chapel. At 1:30 make your way to the Café to Sit-N-Knit followed by The Great Texas Giveaway at 2:00. Join us for Tea and Tales at 7:00 pm to enjoy inspirational stories with a cup of tea!

Thursday February 20th- Every Thursday morning the Conestoga Lodge tuck cart makes its way around the building with goodies for sale! We sell pop, chips, toiletries and more! At 10:45 get your muscles moving with SMART exercise class in the 1st floor Activity room. Paul Schalm will be in for musical entertainment on the piano at 2:00 followed by Bingo at 3:00.

Friday February 21st- Come and solve the problems of the world at our weekly newspaper reading and discussion! We will bring the coffee and donuts. At 10:30 head down to the chapel for a Catholic Church service. At 1:30 enjoy a mind provoking game of euchre  followed by SMART exercises at 2:15.

Thursday February 13th- Every Thursday the travelling tuck cart comes around with goodies for sale! We sell everything from tissues to chocolate bars! At 10:45 get your body moving with SMART exercises in the 1st floor activity room. Solo will take place at 1:30 in the 3rd floor café followed by bingo at 3:00.

Friday February 14th- Happy Valentine’s Day! Join us in the 3rd floor café at 9:15 to read the newspaper and enjoy coffee and donuts. At 10:30 make your way to the chapel for a Catholic Church Service. Celebrate Valentine’s day this afternoon with musical entertainment with Kim Atkins in the dining room followed by SMART exercises at 2:15.
