July Activity Message 2024

Summer is here and with that comes the hot weather. A reminder for all residents with these following tips to reduce the risk of heat related illnesses.

  • Drink plenty of cool liquids, especially before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration

  • Reduce sun exposure between 11am to 4pm when the sun's rays are strongest

  • Stay cool in air-conditioned areas, like the cafe

  • Keep windows and drapes closed during peak times of the day, or when the sun is beating in the window.

  • Report to the nurse if feeling unwell

I would like to introduce three new volunteers at Conestoga Lodge. Annette, who will be bringing in her dog Riley to visit every Tuesday evening. Sarah, who is a student, will be coming in for the month of July, and will be helping the Activity Department. Cindy who will be coming in once a month in the evening to do a Games Evening with the residents. Cindy has a special evening planned in July outside with the theme being "Canadian Games".

Conestoga Lodge has been recognized again this year as part of the 2024 Kitchener in Bloom Program! We are proud to display the sign in the front garden. Thank you to all who contributed to the gardens this spring during our Family and Friends Garden Day. Thanks goes to the volunteers who water the gardens regularly.

July's outings are to Conestoga Lake for a picnic, Stanley Park Mall, Elora Elements Casino, Jack's Family Restaurant in St, Jacobs, and a summer country drive with a stop to DQ,

Have you ever had a Caricature Portrait done of you? This month we have a special artist, Andrew, coming in the afternoon to do caricature portraits. A sign-up sheet will be available as there are limited spaces.

The KPL is putting on a presentation by Lauren - The History of Kitchener. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Residents Council Meeting will be held July 19th in the afternoon. Join in and find out what's happening in your home.

The Waterloo Pentecostal Church will be coming in for two more services - July and August, and then ending after that. We would like to thank Ken Lukas for volunteering his time and coming in once a month to do a service for our residents.

July's birthday party will have music by John and his two daughters. Wishing everyone born in July a very happy birthday!

SAVE THE DATE: Wednesday August 14th, Conestoga Lodge will host a 1950's Family BBQ. Time: 5pm to 7pm. All residents will have dinner outside, the same time as the BBQ.
